Student Crest Award nominations are due to the Student Programs
by 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2009

Emerging Student Leader Award    
This award recognizes up to five freshman and/or sophomore students who have demonstrated outstanding involvement and initiative and promise in leadership on campus           

  • for freshmen or sophomores
  • involvement in campus activities and will have assumed responsibility in organization
  • strong initiative and recognition for promise of leadership on campus
  • must be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic and conduct standing.

Exemplary Practice Award           
This award recognizes the efforts and achievements of up to three individual student organizations. The award will recognize student groups that demonstrate exemplary skill, creativity and resourcefulness in preparation, program delivery and evaluation of a specific organizational event/program.           

  • organization must be in good standing and must be officially recognized through a university department or student government organization
  • specific event/program referred to must have taken place between March 1, 2007 and March 1, 2008
  • at least 25 percent of the total organizational membership will have participated in the production of this event.
Gary Lawton Fretwell Award           
This award recognizes one graduate and one undergraduate student who has served in a leadership role within a student organization and through this involvement has contributed to the growth and success of the organization as well as the development of other students.           
  • nominee will have been involved in a student organization and will have contributed to the growth and success of that organization
  • nominee will have spent significant time and energy in developing the leadership skills of the students he/she has worked with
  • nominee will have grown personally through his or her involvement in the organization
  • nominee must be a full-time graduate or undergraduate student in good academic and conduct standing.

Dean Donald R. Moore Award           
This award recognizes one graduate and one undergraduate student who has served in a significant leadership position during the year, has demonstrated an effective approach to leadership and exhibits exceptional character.           

  • nominee will have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills including time management, dedication, commitment, enthusiasm, academic achievement and accomplishment
  • nominee will possess the special attributes of positive attitude, proper humility, cooperative spirit, appreciation by peers and concern for others
  • nominee must be a full-time graduate or undergraduate student in good academic and conduct standing. 
James F. Kilroy Provost's Award
This award recognized one outstanding graduating graduate student and one outstanding undergraduate senior who have excelled scholastically, have distinguished records of involvement, and have excelled in the area of student leadership on campus.           
  • nominee will have held a leadership position on campus and will have excelled in this position
  • nominee will have successfully integrated academic scholarship and campus leadership
  • nominee will be able to express the benefits which they have derived from their leadership involvement.
Service & Leadership Award           
This award recognizes one graduate and one undergraduate student who have made significant contributions to the New Orleans community through the combination of outstanding community service and leadership.         
  • nominee will have been involved as a volunteer and will have dedicated a significant amount of time and energy to service and leadership
  • nominee will have demonstrated leadership initiative and responsibility in his/he volunteer position with other students or with the recipients of his/her service
  • nominee will have grown personally through her/his involvement as a volunteer and will be able to describe the benefits which she/he has derived from her/his experiences
  • nominee must be a full-time graduate or undergraduate student with good academic and conduct standing.
Student Organization Adviser of the Year Award           
This award will be given annually to recognize an adviser who has demonstrated commitment to the students he/she advises, desires to spread the message of the group he/she oversees, and attempts to promote an atmosphere conducive to education and leadership development.           
  • adviser must be nominated by a student organization that he/she advises
  • adviser must advise organizations recognized by Associated Student Body, Undergraduate Student Government, Graduate and Professional Student Association, Division of Student Affairs or a university department, with active status beginning no later than April 1, 2008
  • nominating organizations must be officially registered with Student Programs
  • adviser must have advised the organization for at least one full semester.
Martha H. Sullivan Student Organization of the Year Award           
Named for the former Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Martha Sullivan, this award will be given annually to recognize a student organization that has been a leader among the more than 200 recognized student organizations at Tulane University.           
  • organization must be recognized by Associated Student Body, Undergraduate Student Government, Graduate and Professional Student Association, Division of Student Affairs or a university department, with active status beginning no later than April 1, 2008
  • organization must be officially registered with Student Programs
  • organization must be free of disciplinary or probate sanctions for at least three years.
